Success! ‘New School’ Film Screening
By Diana Wilkes •
On March 3rd, Tārai Kura screened a dynamic documentary exploring future focused education and innovative learning environments called ‘New School’.
It was wonderful to have over 40 participants join us online on March 3rd for the ‘New School’ film screening. It was a wonderful provocation for us all. The film showcased some exceptional school design within Australia, as well as innovative thinking from leading Principals and experts such as Professor Stephen Heppel and Dr. Julia Atkin.
While the documentary highlighted some of the challenges of 21st-century education and the importance of design in generating productive responses it was fantastic for us to have Dr. Chris Bradbeer from the Stonefields Collaborative and Learning Environments Australasia and (New Zealand) join us for the Q&A session after the viewing. He shared with us some of his thinking around the ‘intersection between pedagogy and space’ and explored some questions from the group.
We would like to acknowledge Learning Environments Australasia and Moonshine Agency for the opportunity to screen this. It was a unique opportunity for our Tārai Kura whānau to come together.
Look out for for the ‘Learning Spaces Aotearoa’ conference that will be in Christchurch in 2023. You might like to follow or like their Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/LENewZealand/.
